What does corporate criminal liability mean?

Corporate criminal liability means that a company can be punished if criminal offences are committed that cannot be attributed to a specific natural person due to inadequate organisation. If a crime or offence is committed in the course of business activities and the company’s organisation is inadequate, the company can be fined up to CHF 5 million.
Even if an offence is committed by a natural person, the company can be punished if it has not taken all the necessary organisational measures to prevent the offence.
