Outlook Calendar Entries as Evidence for Overtime Are Insufficient

Overtime is often a topic of labor disputes. Generally, the employee claiming overtime must provide evidence.
In a case before the Zurich Labor Court, an employee sought payment for unaccounted overtime. The court rejected the claim because the documentation of work hours was insufficient. The employee recorded only rounded hours per day without specifying start times, breaks, or detailed project assignments. Such detailed information was deemed necessary.
The court ruled that Outlook calendar entries are inadequate proof of working hours, as calendars serve more as planning tools and often differ from actual work hours.
