New regulations for Swiss companies with foreign subsidiaries

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is a complex set of regulations that stipulates how and what must be disclosed on the topics of environment, social affairs and corporate governance (ESG) at company level. It came into force on 5 January 2023 and must be embedded in national law by all EU states by July 2024.

Swiss companies can also be affected by the CSRD if they have subsidiaries in EU countries. Likewise, companies without reporting obligations can be asked for information by customers, suppliers, investors or lenders, because the responsible parties are obliged to disclose information about their value chain. In order to meet the legal requirements, the ESG issue should be addressed as soon as possible.
