Early Return to Work Ends Maternity Compensation

Many mothers and employers are unaware that resuming work during maternity leave immediately ends the entitlement to state maternity compensation, regardless of how many hours are worked.
This applies to secondary activities, such as municipal council work, church maintenance, or board memberships. Receiving any AHV-liable remuneration, such as meeting fees, counts as employment and terminates maternity compensation immediately, including for primary employment.
